Effectiveness of pile relief device with special reference to hemorrhoids and fissure in ano among general population - A clinical study

Background: Hemorrhoids and fissure are one of the most common anorectal problems. It is reported that 1 in 5 patients suffers hemorrhoids and fissure during their lifetime. Aim and Objectives: To study the effectiveness of “pile relief device” in the management of hemorrhoids and fissures among patients attending outpatient department. Methodology: Hence, a clinical study has been carried out among 1000 patients at Rana Piles Hospital, Sirhind (Punjab), to treat the fissures and hemorrhoids by a cryotherapy device called Pile Relief Device. Results: The result shown that there is significant regression of haemorrhoidal pile mass, healing of fissure mucosa, and no anal stenosis. Conclusion: The results were shown that the Pile Relief Device is effective over today's conventional line of treatment.

Hemorrhoids and fissure are one of the most common anorectal problems. It is reported that 1 in 5 patients suffers hemorrhoids and fissure during their lifetime. In the present day, there is no safe and proper treatment protocol to treat anorectal hemorrhoids and fissures. We have limitations to suggest the oral medications and limitations to use a local topical ointments. We can suggest only dietary changes and advise to drink plenty of water.[1],[2],[3],[4],[5] However, it is not enough to cure or treat the hemorrhoids and the fissure in ano among patients. We are using cryotherapy device called “pile relief device” in the management of the hemorrhoids and fissure in patients and the effectiveness and safety of this treatment have to be studied during this research project. Pile relief device is a drug free, patented device for the treatment of Haemorrhoids (piles) and Fissures in ano. This device is to applied in the left lateral position for 7 min twice in a day for 15 days and then once a day for 1 month.
Aim
To study the effectiveness of “pile relief device” in the management of hemorrhoids and fissures among patients attending outpatient department.

1000 Prediagnosed patients having hemorrhoids and fissure were selected. All patients having complaints of piles and fissures were screened thoroughly before application of the pile relief device. Written informed consent was taken and counseling of the patient about the procedure of application of pile relief device was done.[1] All procedures performed in the study were conducted in accordance with the ethics standards given in 1964 Declaration of Helsinki, as revised in 2013. The study proposal was submitted for approval and clearance was obtained from the ethical committee of our institution. The sign and symptoms and local manual examination were noted. The patient was advised to lie on the left lateral position. The pile relief cryotherapy device was taken out from freezer which was stored in the freeze for 3 h. Veg. glycerine applied over the top of the device to facilitate comfort. Pile relief device is then applied for 7 min.

Pile relief device is effective over today's conventional line of treatment it is safe to use for all age groups as shown in [Table 1] and [Table 2].
Discussion | |  |
The effectiveness of pile relief device against the clinical sign symptoms of hemorrhoids and anal fissure were pain, bleeding per rectum, inflammation, itching, burning sensation, and constipation were studied, also the proctological findings of pile mass regression, healing of fissured mucosa, anal stenosis were examined and they were noted in that the 98% patients show no pain, no bleeding and inflammation in 92% and 94% patients, burning sensation decreased up to 96% of patients and constipation relieved up to 93% patients.[1],[6],[7],[8],[9],[10] Also proctological examination showed marked improved results the healing of fissured mucosa and anal stenosis or anal spasm have been relieved up to 91% and 88% whereas the pile mass regression in 89% of patients. It has been found out that Piles General Medical Systems Relief Device with Kegel exercise can relieve more than 90% cases of Fissure and Haemorrhoids. Kegel exercise has to be done for 100 times a day i.e. 50 times in the morning, 50 times in the evening with a gap of 1 h with meals.

Based on our study, we have concluded that the pile relief device is effective over todays conventional line of treatment, relatively easy, and having no side effects over the medicinal treatment and during pregnancy.
